Welcome back to ARCappella 2022! Even though COVID continues to affect life (it does feel somewhat like 2020 too 😛 ), we are planning to resume singing in-person and online from Wednesday 9th February, 7:30pm. As per last year, we are closely following the Victorian Government’s health directives and will make in-person rehearsals as safe and as fun as possible, while having Zoom rehearsals available for those who are not ready for group singing. We are still in the process of confirming venue availability (it’s still looking good for Sacred Heart Primary School, Preston) and working through our COVID-safe plan, so stay tuned for details that will be sent around as soon as more information becomes available. Looking forward to resuming with all our current, previous and new members, and after a really great Christmas term, we welcome back Marina Thacker as our wonderful ongoing choral director!
We are thrilled to confirm the appointment of Marina Thacker as ARCappella’s Choral Director. Marina commenced with us in Term 4 and comes with a wealth of experience as a community choir conductor/ musical director. Marina has conducted community choirs for over 20 years in Brisbane and we are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with her also. Welcome Marina!
With restrictions easing once again in Melbourne, we’re excited to be rehearsing in person once again from the Wednesday 14th July 7:30pm at Sacred Heart Primary School in Preston. Entry from Clifton Grove. Ensure that you have your mobile phone for QR checking in and your masks as these will be required for singing. We also strongly encourage our members who are eligible for a COVID jab to be vaccinated to further protect themselves. See our COVID safe-plan and registration form here. If you haven’t already registered for rehearsals this year, they are a must. Can’t wait to get back to it!
The Committee of Management are thrilled to announce that Christine Storey will commence as ARCappella’s new choral director on Wednesday 21st April 2021. Christine is highly regarded and experienced choral conductor, voice teacher, arts administrator, workshop presenter, classroom teacher and singer. Welcome Christine! We look forward to working with you as we commence a new chapter for our choir.
Melbourne turned on a beautiful day for us as we farewelled David Perry, our wonderful Choral Director of (almost) 13 years with a concert at the Fairfield Amphitheatre on 29th March. The mini-concert combined with the ARC Children’s and Youth Choirs was also a great opportunity for our newest choir members to perform at their first concert ever, and the regulars’ first concert since December 2019 after which COVID locked us down.
Good bye and good luck with your future endeavours David. You’ll be greatly missed! Hope to see you again when you visit Melbourne.
We are also excited to announce that ARCappella continue in Term 2 under the guidence of a new Choral Director. Details to be revealed soon!
