Northern Choir Fest 2022

ARC is a non-for-profit community arts organisation with a long established history in Melbourne’s north. ARC operates ARCappella and the ARC Children’s & Youth Choir and recognises the importance of choirs in developing choral skills, musicianship, community connection and positive wellbeing.

Conceived 4 years ago and delayed by a global pandemic, ARC is proud to finally present the inaugural Northern Choir Fest – a celebration of community and school choirs within the City of Darebin.

Members of choirs are invited to attend a morning workshop with widely-celebrated a-cappella group, Coco’s Lunch. (Registration 11.00am, workshop commences 11.30am-1.00pm).

Coco’s Lunch are Australia’s multi award-winning, magical purveyors of original vocal repertoire. With 8 critically acclaimed albums under their belt, these women have won the hearts of audiences in over 13 different countries, received countless awards, been featured on compilation albums worldwide, and inspired a generation of singers. Coco’s Lunch are pioneers in the composition and performance of unique vocal repertoire that is now performed by vocal ensembles and choirs globally. Featuring Melbourne singer/songwriter/percussionists Jacqueline Gawler, Lisa Young, Gabrielle MacGregor, Nicola Eveleigh and Emma Gilmartin.

With Coco’s Lunch, choirs will participate in a range of vocal warm ups, techniques and together learn & perform ‘This Heart of the World’, composed by Lisa Young from CoCo’s Lunch. All registered choirs will receive licensed copies of this music prior to the event and supporting online resources.

Individuals interested in this workshop will be able to attend this free workshop if they are currently a registered member of a community or school choir in Melbourne’s Northern suburbs. Registration will be done in bulk for individuals by their choir managers. Individuals singers who are not currently members of any choir are welcome to register by joining ARCappella.

Following the workshop, all participating choirs will be able to perform a set in our Choir Showcase.
